How pictures save
An image format is a standardized way of encoding visual data in a digital file.
Common formats include JPEG (compressed photographs), PNG (graphics with transparency), and GIF (simple animations).
Each format makes tradeoffs between file size, image quality, and supported features: The website only accepts uploads in PNG or JPEG image format.
