hummocks

Low rounded knolls

Hummocks are small rounded mounds or knolls rising from flat terrain.

They appear in marshes, tundra, and ice fields—natural bumps in otherwise level landscapes: The explorers trudged across the hummocks of pack ice.

A single such mound is a hummock.

The adjective hummocky describes terrain marked by these irregular rises.
