hub world
Game's home base
A hub world is a central area in a video game from which players access other levels or regions.
Rather than progressing linearly from stage to stage, players return to the hub between missions: Peach's Castle in Mario 64 was one of the first great hub worlds.
The hub typically expands or unlocks new pathways as the player advances.
