Heliotherapy is the therapeutic use of sunlight to treat disease or promote healing.
The practice dates to ancient medicine but gained clinical attention in the early twentieth century for treating tuberculosis and rickets.
Modern medicine has largely replaced it with more targeted treatments, though controlled sun exposure remains part of some skin condition therapies.
