heartlander

Central American dweller

A heartlander is someone from the heartland—the central, rural, or traditionally conservative interior of a country, especially the American Midwest.

The term often carries connotations of traditional values, authenticity, and distance from coastal urban culture: Heartlanders tend to vote Republican.

It can be used admiringly or dismissively depending on the speaker's perspective.
