heart massage
Manual cardiac revival
Heart massage is the rhythmic compression of the heart to restore or maintain blood circulation, performed either externally by pressing on the chest (as in CPR) or directly on the exposed heart during surgery.
The paramedic performed heart massage until the defibrillator arrived.

- hands-only CPRLifesaving chest compressions alone
- recoilBackward force from discharge
- duty cycleOn-time versus total time

- defibrillationElectric cardiac rhythm reset
- AEDAutomated shock device
- rescue breathingForcing air into lungs
- ventilationCirculation of fresh air
