Compressions without breaths
Hands-only CPR is a simplified form of cardiopulmonary resuscitation that uses only chest compressions, omitting mouth-to-mouth breathing.
It's recommended for untrained bystanders responding to cardiac arrest in adults: The 911 operator walked him through hands-only CPR until paramedics arrived.
The technique makes intervention less intimidating and eliminates hesitation about contact with a stranger's mouth.
