hatchman
One who chops
A hatchman is someone who wields a hatchet, either literally or figuratively.
The term most often describes a person who carries out unpleasant tasks on behalf of another—firing employees, delivering bad news, or eliminating opposition: The CEO sent his hatchman to clean house.
The variant *hatchet man* is more common.
