hardbound

Stiff cover edition

Hardbound describes a book with rigid covers, typically cardboard wrapped in cloth or paper, as opposed to a paperback's flexible covers: The hardbound edition costs more but lasts longer.

Also called hardcover.

Publishers often release hardbound editions first, with paperbacks following months later.
