guilders
Old Netherlands currency
Guilders are units of currency, most notably the Dutch guilder (also called the florin), which was the monetary unit of the Netherlands before the euro replaced it in 2002.
The word appears in historical contexts and in references to former Dutch colonies: The painting sold for two million guilders.
Guilder comes from a word meaning gold.
