greasers

Machine lubricators or rebels

Greasers were members of a 1950s-60s youth subculture characterized by slicked-back hair (hence the name), leather jackets, and working-class swagger.

The look was associated with rock and roll, motorcycles, and a rebellious attitude: The greasers hung out by the gas station.

The term is now mostly historical or nostalgic.

Separately, greaser is an old ethnic slur for Mexicans or other Latin Americans.
