gray squirrel
Common tree rodent
A gray squirrel is a common tree squirrel of eastern North America, with gray fur and a bushy tail.
Gray squirrels are agile climbers that cache nuts and seeds for winter, often forgetting where they buried them—inadvertently planting trees.
They've become ubiquitous in parks and suburban yards, sometimes considered pests for raiding bird feeders.
Also spelled grey squirrel.
