glowplugs
Cold-start heating elements
Glowplugs are heating elements in diesel engines that warm the combustion chamber to help start the engine in cold conditions.
Unlike spark plugs in gasoline engines, they don't ignite fuel directly—they preheat the air so diesel fuel will combust when compressed.
Wait for the glowplug light to go off before turning the key.
