four-posters
Beds with columns
Four-posters are beds with a tall post at each corner, typically supporting a canopy or frame for curtains.
The design originated as a way to provide warmth and privacy.
Now mostly decorative, four-posters suggest traditional elegance: The guest room featured a mahogany four-poster with velvet drapes.
