sleigh beds
Scrolled bedroom furniture
A sleigh bed is a style of bed with a curved or scrolled headboard and footboard that resemble the shape of a horse-drawn sleigh.
The design emerged in early 19th-century France and America during the Empire period, typically featuring heavy wooden construction with outward-curving ends.
The antique sleigh bed dominated the guest room.
Modern versions range from ornate traditional styles to streamlined contemporary interpretations.
