fount

Origin of abundance

A fount is a source from which something flows abundantly—literally a spring or fountain, figuratively the origin of anything that seems to pour forth: a fount of wisdom, a fount of knowledge.

The word is literary and somewhat old-fashioned.

In British printing, fount is also a variant spelling of font, meaning a set of type.
