forum moderator
Online community supervisor
A forum moderator is someone who oversees an online discussion community, enforcing rules, removing inappropriate content, and managing disputes between users.
The role combines janitorial work with diplomacy—keeping conversations civil while deciding what crosses the line.
Moderators may be volunteers or paid staff: The forum moderator locked the thread before it devolved further.
Often shortened to mod.
