folk-tradition
Passed-down community wisdom
Folk-tradition refers to customs, stories, beliefs, songs, or practices passed down informally within a community across generations.
Unlike formal or institutional traditions, folk-traditions spread through oral transmission, imitation, and participation rather than official teaching: The recipe comes from folk-tradition, not any cookbook.
The term often carries connotations of authenticity and grassroots origins.
