foamer
Overly excited devotee
A foamer is someone with an obsessive enthusiasm for a particular hobby or interest, originally and especially railfans—the type who foam at the mouth with excitement when they spot a rare locomotive.
The term is mildly derisive, used both by outsiders mocking the intensity and by enthusiasts themselves with self-aware humor: The foamers were out in force when the heritage steam engine rolled through.
The word has spread to other hobbyist communities where intense devotion invites gentle ridicule.
