heat therapy
Therapeutic warmth application
Heat therapy is the application of warmth to the body for pain relief or healing—through heating pads, warm compresses, hot water bottles, or heated baths.
The heat increases blood flow and relaxes muscles, commonly used for chronic pain, stiff joints, and muscle tension: Heat therapy helped ease her lower back pain.
Also called thermotherapy.
