flexions
Muscle contracting motions
Flexions is the plural of flexion, the act of bending a joint or limb, or the state of being bent.
In anatomy and physical therapy, flexion contrasts with extension: The therapist measured the flexions of each finger after surgery.
The term also appears in grammar, where it refers to inflection—the modification of words to express different grammatical categories like tense or case.
British English tends to prefer flexion while American English often uses flection for the same meanings.
