flavor text
Non-mechanical game prose
Flavor text is supplementary text in games, trading cards, or rulebooks that adds atmosphere, lore, or storytelling rather than mechanical information.
On a Magic: The Gathering card, flavor text might describe a character's history or quote their words, while the rules text explains what the card actually does.
The term extends to any decorative narrative content that enriches a fictional world without affecting gameplay: The flavor text on this weapon is hilarious.
