first tee
Round's starting point
The first tee is the starting point of a golf course, where players begin their round.
It's both a physical location—the teeing ground at hole one—and a moment of anticipation or nervousness: I always get butterflies on the first tee.
The First Tee is also a youth development organization that uses golf to teach life skills.
