brassie
Old golf club
A brassie is an old-fashioned golf club, roughly equivalent to a modern 2-wood.
The name comes from the brass plate on the sole that protected the wooden clubhead.
Like other numbered woods, brassies have largely been replaced by metal woods and hybrid clubs, though the term persists among golf historians and traditionalists.
