firenado

Whirling flame column

A firenado is a rotating column of fire that forms when intense heat and turbulent winds combine during a wildfire or large blaze.

The vortex draws flames upward in a tornado-like spiral, sometimes reaching hundreds of feet high.

Also called a fire whirl or fire devil.

The firenado tore through the burning hillside, uprooting trees in its path.
