fingerpick
Guitarist's thumb extension
To fingerpick is to pluck guitar or banjo strings directly with the fingers or fingernails rather than using a flat pick.
The technique allows playing multiple strings simultaneously, essential for folk, blues, and classical styles: She fingerpicks beautifully on that old Martin.
A fingerpick is also a small device worn on the fingertip to pluck strings more sharply.
