flatpick
Stiff guitar pick
A flatpick is a small, rigid plectrum held between thumb and finger to strike guitar strings, as opposed to fingerpicking with bare fingers or fingerpicks.
The term appears most often in bluegrass and folk contexts: He learned to flatpick on his grandfather's acoustic.
As a verb, to flatpick is to play using this technique.
