figwort
Tall medicinal wildflower
Figwort is a plant of the genus Scrophularia, typically bearing small brownish or greenish flowers.
The name refers to the fig-shaped root nodules of some species, once thought useful for treating hemorrhoids (called "figs" in old medical terminology).
Figworts grow in moist, shaded areas across temperate regions.
