fibrocartilage
Dense connective tissue
Fibrocartilage is tough, dense cartilage reinforced with collagen fibers, found where tissue must withstand heavy pressure or tension.
The discs between vertebrae are fibrocartilage, as is the cartilage in the knee's meniscus and the pubic symphysis.
It's stronger and less flexible than the hyaline cartilage covering joint surfaces.
