bone formation
Growing hard tissue
Bone formation is the biological process by which new bone tissue develops.
In embryos, bone forms either directly from connective tissue or by replacing cartilage.
Throughout life, bone formation continues as the body repairs fractures, remodels existing bone, and maintains skeletal structure.
Also called osteogenesis or ossification.
