feed-forward

Signal passes onward

Feed-forward describes a system where information flows in one direction only, from input to output, without looping back.

In neural networks, a feed-forward architecture passes data through layers sequentially: The basic feed-forward network has no memory of previous inputs.

The term contrasts with feedback systems, where outputs influence subsequent inputs.
