fallen state
Condition after transgression
A fallen state is the theological concept that humanity exists in a condition of moral corruption and spiritual separation from God, typically traced to Adam and Eve's disobedience in Eden.
The term appears most often in Christian discourse: In our fallen state, we are incapable of saving ourselves.
More broadly, it can describe any diminished condition from a previous state of grace or wholeness.
