evacuation slides
Aircraft escape ramps
Evacuation slides are inflatable chutes attached to aircraft emergency exits, deployed to allow rapid passenger escape when normal boarding stairs aren't available.
They inflate automatically when the door opens in emergency mode and can evacuate an entire plane in ninety seconds.
Some double as life rafts if the aircraft lands on water: The crew armed the doors and cross-checked the evacuation slides.
