egoist

Perpetually self-interested person

An egoist is someone who acts primarily from self-interest or believes self-interest is the proper basis for action.

The term can be neutral—describing a philosophical position that all motivation is ultimately selfish—or critical, suggesting excessive self-centeredness: He's such an egoist he can't imagine anyone disagreeing with him.

Distinguished from egotist, which emphasizes boastfulness rather than self-serving behavior.
