Made jet black
Ebonized describes wood that has been stained or treated to look like ebony—dark, nearly black, with a smooth finish.
The technique allows cheaper woods to mimic the appearance of expensive tropical ebony: an ebonized oak cabinet, ebonized piano keys.
Common in Victorian-era furniture and still used today.
