ear tube
Drainage implant, eardrum
An ear tube is a tiny cylinder surgically inserted through the eardrum to allow fluid drainage and air circulation in the middle ear.
The procedure is common in children with chronic ear infections or persistent fluid buildup: The doctor recommended ear tubes after her third infection in six months.
The tubes typically fall out on their own within a year or two.
