ear flap
Hat's hanging side
An ear flap is the part of a cap or hat that folds down to cover and protect the ears from cold weather: He pulled down the ear flaps on his trapper hat.
Some designs keep the flaps tied up on top until needed.
Ear flap also refers to the external ear itself—the visible fleshy part, technically called the pinna.
