dystrophies
Tissue deterioration disorders
Dystrophies is the plural of dystrophy, a medical term for disorders involving wasting or abnormal development of tissue, especially muscle.
Muscular dystrophies are a group of inherited diseases causing progressive muscle weakness and degeneration: Duchenne and Becker are the most common muscular dystrophies.
The term also applies to non-muscular conditions: corneal dystrophies, nail dystrophies.
