dotless
Lacking small marks
Dotless describes something that lacks a dot, most often referring to letters.
The lowercase letters i and j normally have dots (called tittles), so a dotless i is the Turkish letter ı, which represents a different vowel sound.
In typography, dotless versions matter for diacritical marks that replace the dot: ï requires a dotless base.
