A dogman is a crane operator's assistant who guides loads from the ground, using hand signals or radio to direct the crane driver.
The term is standard in Australian and British construction.
Separately, dogman refers to a mythical humanoid creature resembling a werewolf, reported in American folklore—particularly the Michigan Dogman, supposedly sighted in the northern Lower Peninsula.
