distro

Packaged software bundle

A distro is a Linux distribution—a complete operating system built around the Linux kernel, packaged with software, a desktop environment, and a package manager.

Ubuntu, Fedora, Debian, and Arch are popular distros, each with different philosophies about ease of use, stability, and customization: Which distro are you running?

The term occasionally extends to other bundled software packages.
