Debian

Free operating system

Debian is a free, open-source operating system based on the Linux kernel, known for its stability and strict commitment to free software principles.

It serves as the foundation for many other Linux distributions, including Ubuntu.

The name combines the names of its founder Ian Murdock and his then-girlfriend Debra: I run Debian on my server because it rarely breaks.
