dice roll
Random number generator
A dice roll is the act of throwing dice to generate a random outcome, or the result itself: The dice roll determined who went first.
In tabletop gaming, dice rolls resolve actions—combat, skill checks, saving throws.
Figuratively, any situation left to chance: Starting a business is always a dice roll.
