natural 20
Perfect unmodified roll
A natural 20 is the best possible roll in tabletop role-playing games like Dungeons & Dragons—rolling a twenty on a twenty-sided die without modifiers.
It typically guarantees success, often with spectacular results: a critical hit in combat, a lock picked with flourish, a perfect persuasion.
I rolled a natural 20 and decapitated the ogre.
Figuratively, any instance of exceptional luck or flawless execution: Getting that parking spot was a natural 20.
