deskphone

Wired workplace communicator

A deskphone is a telephone designed to sit on a desk or table, as opposed to a mobile phone or wall-mounted unit.

The term gained currency as cell phones became dominant—what was once simply "the phone" needed distinguishing: I'll call you back on my deskphone.

Deskphones remain standard in offices, often integrated with business phone systems.
