denormalize
Undo database structuring
To denormalize is to reverse or undo normalization—returning something to a less standardized or less organized state.
In databases, denormalizing means intentionally introducing redundancy to improve query performance, trading storage efficiency for speed: We denormalized the tables to reduce join complexity.
More broadly, it can mean making something abnormal again or removing it from accepted status: The campaign seeks to denormalize smoking.
