Removing stored fuel
Defueling is the process of removing fuel from a vehicle, aircraft, or storage tank.
The term appears most often in aviation and aerospace contexts, where draining fuel is necessary before maintenance, storage, or emergency response: The crew began defueling the aircraft after the aborted mission.
