dead march
Solemn burial music
A dead march is a slow, solemn piece of music played during a funeral procession, especially a military one.
The measured tempo matches the deliberate pace of pallbearers: The band played a dead march as the casket was carried to the grave.
Chopin's Piano Sonata No. 2 contains the most famous example.
