de-ranking
Dropping in order
De-ranking is the deliberate lowering of a website, page, or content in search engine results or platform algorithms.
Search engines may de-rank sites for violating guidelines; social media platforms de-rank posts to reduce their visibility without outright removal.
The site was de-ranked after using deceptive SEO tactics.
The practice serves as a softer alternative to complete bans or takedowns.
