daikon radish

Asian white root

Daikon radish is a large, mild white radish common in East Asian cuisines.

It can grow over a foot long and several inches thick, with crisp flesh less peppery than smaller red radishes.

Daikon appears raw in salads and slaws, pickled, or cooked in soups and stir-fries: grated daikon with soy sauce, daikon kimchi.
